Sport Scientist Team Sunweb
During my study to became a physiotherapist I realised that there was a lot of science missing behind multiple treatments, this caught my interest. Therefore after receiving my bachelor degree I applied to the master program of human movement sciences at the VU Amsterdam which I graduated in 2010. I was always interested in high performance sports and started at a work experience place at the NOC*NSF which resulted in a job as embedded scientist in a small pro-continental team called Skil-Shimano. Probably one of the first sport scientist in elite cycling with solely the task to implement science in practice. This give me the opportunity to grow slowly with the team and with our keep-challenging philosophy we made every year some steps. This resulted in victories in all mayor aspects of elite cycling with as highlight 2017 winning: the Giro d’Italia, the polka dot and green jerseys in the Tour de France and 3 world titles. In 2015 I was looking for an extra challenge and together with Jos de Koning from the VU we started my PhD project with the working title: Training load in Elite Cycling which I hope to finish late 2019.
