JIM MARTIN

Professor

I began my professional life as a Professional Engineer. After ten years in that field, I decided to pursue my passion for exercise and returned to graduate school. I received my Ph.D. in Kinesiology and Health Education from The University of Texas at Austin in which my emphasis area was Exercise Science combined with Growth Development and Aging. Following completion of my doctorate I took a two year Research Assistant Professor position at University of South Carolina. I joined the faculty at the University of Utah in 2000 and am currently a Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology.

The translational nature of my research with respect to competitive cycling has resulted in opportunities to provide service to elite sport organizations in New Zealand, the United States, Australia, England, Canada, and Malaysia. I have also provided community service via several podcasts
