14 April 2020

Unfortunately I have to inform you that the Science & Cycling Conference 2020 will be postponed. Last night the government of France has extended the lock down and made it clear that no events will take place until half July. Meaning that also the Tour de France will be postponed. This is not an unexpected scenario, but we were hoping for a clearer plan from the Tour de France in order to move the conference with the Tour.
Given the current situation we feel it is appropriate to inform all of the people involved in our event; speakers, authors, reviewers, participants, host and sponsors on our plans.

At this moment the conference is postponed, but no new date has been set. It will depend very much on the situation in the world and the actions of the Tour de France if and when we can deliver the conference this year. We think that postponing the Tour de France with 4 weeks is not going to give a satisfying solution, since it is clear that the problem around the Corona virus is not gone by that time.

Most of the program has been composed and we will keep this on file. All papers will be reviewed in order to finalise this work out of respect to the people who submitted.

I’m really sorry for this situation, but at this moment health and safety of everybody involved is the most important.
