Dr. Andrea Sciacchitano is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering of Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. His research focuses on the development and application of measurement techniques for the quantitative visualization of fluid flows. In the recent years, Andrea and his team have developed the Large-Scale Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and the Robotic PIV techniques, which enable aerodynamic measurements of human-sized wind tunnel models. They have applied this technique to investigate the flow field around a full-scale cyclist model. Furthermore, Andrea and his team have introduced the Ring-of-Fire concept, which provides unprecedented on-site aerodynamic measurements of cyclists during their training
